    Getting Updates on New Posts

By subscribing to the RSS feature on the Forums 'home page' (http://communities.psych.org/forums), will I be able to check if there are new posts without accessing the Psych:Communities site?  I've been involved in a Google community where I can get an E-mail alerting me that there's been a new posting.  I get the sense that the RSS feature doesn't do that, does it?

Yes, if you have an RSS feed reader, then you will see the updates. I am using Windows Vista and the sidebar has a nice RSS reader where I can see what's going on...

I'll post another primer or two in the coming days and this may be a good topic...

I found the RSS feed button on my IE taskbar for the 1st time, and have seen how the update works.  (I have Windows XP, by the way.)  I'm wondering, though, if an E-mail update could be generated to a member of a forum, when a new post is made.

    Thanks,

    Steve
